| Description: | The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Cal State Fullerton has been home to a REU-site since 1990. Many of our former participants have gone on to succesful careers (academic, industrial and government) in all areas of chemistry and biochemistry. Applications are invited from students who are sophomores or juniors, majoring in a chemistry-related subject, who wish to spend the summer of 2009 conducting research in chemistry or biochemistry at California State University, Fullerton, The ten-week program runs from June 1 to August 7. Funding from NSF-REU, the National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates program provides stipends of $4,000 for the ten-week period plus housing and round trip travel costs for out-of-town participants. Local travel assistance is also available for residents of the greater Los Angeles/Orange County area. We provide a strong supportive environment for "late-bloomers" and re-entry students, and women and minority students are especially encouraged to apply. |
