REU: Enriching Research Experience in Nanometrology at Portland State University

Description: PSU's REU program provides opportunities for undergraduate students--with an emphasis on underrepresented minorities and females--to be involved in research projects with the faculty at PSU. This program will allow students to quickly engage in actually research work in a multidisciplinary environment, and will also train students in using microscopy and microanalysis techniques for materials characterization.

The program consists of 8 weeks of full-time research, a week long training seminar at the beginning of the program, and ethics seminars throughout the course of the summer. There are regular group meetings every two weeks for participants to connect with one another and share their research as well as a field trip to a local high-tech company like FEI Company or Intel. Lastly, participants will give a formal presentation at the end of the summer in the REU Summer Symposium.
