| Description: | The New York Space Grant Consortium will provide $5,500 stipends and $1,000 travel/relocation grants for 10-week undergraduate student internships at the NASA centers shown below. As always, these opportunities are contingent upon continued funding from NASA. 1) Jet Propulsion Lab (Pasadena, CA) 2) Kennedy (Cape Canaveral, FL) 3) Langley (Hampton, VA) 4) Marshall (Huntsville, AL) ELIGIBILITY: To receive NY Space Grant funding, a full-time student must (1) be a United States citizen, and (2) be a New York state resident or attend a New York college/university. Additional eligibility details for each center's internship opportunity are listed as follows: 1) Jet Propulsion Lab: Rising juniors, seniors, or entering first-year graduate students in engineering & science. Example research (PDF file) 2) Kennedy: Rising sophomores, juniors, seniors, or entering first-year graduate students in engineering & computer science. 3) Langley: Rising juniors, seniors, or entering first-year graduate students in engineering & science (see LARSS web page for more details). 4) Marshall: Rising sophomores, juniors, seniors, or entering first-year graduate students in engineering & science (including earth and atmospheric sciences). APPLICATION: For NASA JPL, Kennedy, and Marshall internships, students must apply directly to the NY Space Grant using the application linked below. DEADLINES AND NOTIFICATION: February 1, 2009 is the deadline for receipt of all applications and supporting materials in the NY Space Grant office and the LARSS program office. Students chosen for forwarding/further selection at NASA JPL, Kennedy, and Marshall will be notified in mid-February 2009. Students chosen for Langley's LARSS program will be notified in March/April 2009. |
