|Description:||The Center for Nanotechnology (CNT) University of Washington (UW) hosts a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program through the National Nanotecnology Infrastructure Network (NNIN) June 15 - August 21, 2009. Students with broad interests in nanoscale science, technology, and/or engineering are encouraged to apply.
Participants in this ten-week program will engage in hands-on scientific research with broad applications – e.g., bio-engineering, chemistry, electronics, life sciences, optics, physics, optoelectronics, and materials science. Interns will work closely with CNT graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and technical staff on research projects designed and supervised by faculty members, and will write up and present their research.
Participants will receive a $3,800 stipend, plus housing; travel expenses to and from the UW may be covered for non-local students. Interns will be responsible for their own meals.
Participants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States or its possessions and enrolled in a degree program leading to a baccalaureate or associate degree; students transferring from one college or university to another may participate. Students who have received their bachelor's degrees are not eligible. Minority and female candidates are encouraged to apply.
