| Description: | The University of Central Florida SUMMER RESEARCH PROGRAM FOR UNDERGRADUATES NSF/REU Program in Intelligent and Autonomous Robotic SystemsMay 23 to July 29, 2005 Program Description: The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida announces research opportunities in Intelligent and Autonomous Robotic Systems for qualified undergraduate Electrical Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Computer Engineering, and Computer Science students, currently in their junior or senior year. Support is provided by the National Science Foundation's REU (Research Experiences for Undergraduates) program. Students selected to participate in the program will work with faculty, share their experiences with fellow participants, attend seminars, and pursue refereed publications, and thus will acquire the skills for conducting independent research. Research Areas: ·Trajectory planning and collision avoidance ·Advanced kinematic and dynamic control designs for mobile robots ·Model-based cooperative control. ·Intelligent controls (teaming behaviors, swarm intelligence, etc.) ·Simulation and optimization. Stipend and Allowances: Participants will be awarded a stipend and living allowance of $4000, as well as additional support for housing, travel, etc. Application Deadline: Mar 11, 2005. Requirements: 1) US citizenship or permanent residency, 2) GPA 3.2 or higher preferred, and.3) Junior or senior status. Women and under-represented minorities are encouraged to apply.
