I thought I would see what folks are listening to music-wise.
I don't listen to music at home, and at work, I just have the
mp3 player on my computer shuffle through the 2500 or so
songs on my hard drive.  The only place I really pick music to
listen to is in my car.  I usually pick a few CD's to cycle
through until I get tired of them.  Lately I've been on a punk
kick, so I have Americana by the Offspring,  Sparkle and
Fade by Everclear, Dookie by Green Day, and Ramones
Mania (greatest hits).  For some variety I recently added the
complete Slash recordings of the Blasters, and Peter Gabriel's
recent compilation.  So, what's in your CD player?

It's not in my car, but right now I am listening to "The Chronicles of Life and Death" by Good Charlotte.

I've been listening to jubilant folks screaming 'The Red Sox win the pennant!!  The Red Sox win the pennant!'.

Oh, that doesn't count?  :D

I've been into this Native American blues band called Indigenous lately - kind of like Stevie Ray Vaughn crossed with Dire Straits.  V. cool.

Try the Future Sound of London.  They are great.  Unfortunately, their last album was from 5 years ago, but the music is from another planet.

I'd compare them with a comparable band if I could think of one...

I be listening to the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy radio series.  With that you won't need music or, indeed, a life.  :)

Good stuff... :D

Aright, this girl, Nellie McKay, is 19, she just finished her first album, and it's utterly fantastic. She has tracks from every genre--country, rap, rock, jazz--and her lyrics are just about like nothing I've seen before. Oh yeah, and I think she's really girl-next-door hot. Seriously, I haven't been this excited when buying a CD since I bought my first Beatles album, the white album, 7 years ago.

Also, I've been listening to the soundtrack from the musical "Hair," as well as a crapload of Donovan. Oh, and I've also been listening to Kaki King, this fantastic guitarist.

Well not that i recieved my most excellent christmas present, 40GB iPod, i can listen to everything i own.  This only comes out to about 7300 songs.  And with all those options I still pretty much listen to Nine Inch Nails.  The greatest band ever, they are forever leet.  There newest album, the last release was in 99, will come out this year in march so I am totally stoked.  and they will turn this summer so i will travel the country to go to shows.  Anybody that has not heard of them I would suggest get the live album,And All That Could Have Been, first.  this is a nice mix of there body of work.

On a lark last week I thought I would check out Wal-mart's 88 cent downloads.  I didn't expect a very good selection, but I was pleasantly surprised.  All of the songs I wanted were available.   I downloaded "Cry" by 10cc, "American Woman" and "No Sugar Tonight" by the Guess Who, "Play That Funky Music" by Wild Cherry, "Jerusalem" by Steve Earle, and the live version of "Fantasia Suite" by Al DiMeola, John McLaughlin, and Paco DeLucia.  Pretty cool service, even though it Wal-Mart.

Tommy Lee is not one of my favorites but I was interested to see this bit about his foray into Timothy Gay's physics classroom

There's several other cool stories here as well---a starquake, what's wrong with quantum mechanics, and the upcoming TV show on Einstein...
