said in the title, I love physics.  And
that, I believe, will get me through. :)

What I really want to know is what space is
made of. Now that we know it''s not a
complete vacuum...Well, what is it?  (And
please don''t tell me "vacuum fluctuations".  
It''s not descriptive enough and doesn''t tell
me what they''re doing there.)

String Theory is quite interesting to me.  I
think it grand if the entire universe is
fundamentally made up of tiny, vibrating all-
dimensional strings.  The Cosmic Symphony!

Another wild concept to me is Neutron
stars.  I would like to know all I can about
those.

Finally, my ultimate goal is to find a new
form of propulsion that would make space
travel practical for human beings (and
possibly their pets).

I am Charles, retired electronic engineer building my own solar cave house by myself in Charleston, West Virginia.
I don''t understand the government publications so I had to build experiments myself. These failures are very expensive.

I get Physics Today and occasionally find an unbelievable statement.  I am looking for the expert who can explain many things on my list.
First is the dark age problem. If the background radiation had to travel through the dark age it would never get to us.  So how can we see it?

Second problem is general relativity.
A student once said "One equation or another equation, they all look the same to me. I don''t understand even one."  Well I feel that way about the matrices of general relativity.  A(1,1) or B(3,3) , this says nothing about physics to me.

My name is Patrick, and I am a third-year physics major at Penn State University.  I am involved in research regarding the multiplet assignments of scalar mesons, and also the identification of a scalar gluonium candidate in proton-antiproton annihilation data below the charmonium threshold.

Hi, my name is Nicole (obviously).  I am a third year undergrad at Lycoming College.  (Who?  It''s in the middle of Pennsylvania.)  I am a dual major in physics and astronomy.  Last summer I did radio astronomy at MIT''s Haystack Observatory and I''m looking for another research opportunity for this upcoming summer.  (Although my last REU was the coolest in Massachussetts, oh yeah!)  

Anyway, I listen to a variety of music the radio won''t play.  I am a recent student of Objectivism, and I love chocolate.  (No, none of those are related.)  At school, I''m SPS PR officer, and I work with freshmen academics for Residence Life.  At home (Staten Island, NY), I try that thing called relaxation...

Hey everyone. I''m a senior at UGA, but only now getting serious and doing physics and astronomy.

Currently I am learning LaTeX typesetting and other computer aided typesetting for mathematical/physics.

Another interest I have is trying to compile a website of my own class notes to help others struggle less where I struggled. I find all of the textbooks I have used in college lack many things.

I love getting feedback on what books other physics/astronomy/mathematics students think are good.

I am a physics student at Chico State along with Justin (who of course wrote a book instead of an intro, typical Justin).  I am his VP in our chapter of SPS.  We are typical nerds, and do lots of nerdy stuff.  But when I am not being a nerd I enjoy rock climbing/mountaineering, and backpacking. I also plan on continuing on to graduate school.

I am stoked that somebody put something together like the nucleus; it is very hard to find other phys students to get in contact with. I think this has great potential (which we will call: V(r) ) for us to exchange info.

Hey my name is Matt and I am an undergrad in physics at bowling green state university in ohio. I got into physics in seventh grade when I tried to do my science fair project on the special theory of relativity. Lets just say it didn''t work out too well. Ever since then I have been hooked. I don''t know what I will end up doing but I am looking into about everything I can get my self into. Right now I am enjoying being on the Electric Falcon Race team which is an indy style race car that runs on batteries. We race against other universities around the country. Other than that I am an avid SPSer, and enjoy doing just about anything outdoors.

Well, my name is Olga and lets see...

I am from St.Peterburg, Russia originaly,
but I have lived in K-Town TN for 10 years a
long time to be in the south (Trust Me).  I
am a junior at the University of Tennessee,
Knoxville, and I am a physics major and a
chemistry and religious studies minor.  Go
humanties. I am also the president of the
SPS at UT.  I have doen summer internships
at LBL in Berkeley, CA, and in CU Boulder
CO, boht places are real grat and I high
recommend the programs.  After I graduate
next May I want to attend gradauate school
and recieve a PhD in atomic physics, atom
trapping and laser cooling. Well enough
about school I think we all do physics here
so that is not going to surprise anyone...

So to make this more entertaining here are
some point that make me the totaly
nonphysics, physics major, here goes...
1. I was in a social sority for a year (yup
a sorostitute)
2. Although I love the wind chill factor in
my lab, I much prefer the outdoors.  I run
long distance races 10k-15k and participate
in triathalons, plus I love to ski (Skied
Aspen this year with 60inches of fresh
powder one day...best skiing of my life).
3. I love to do latin dancing, I used to
take classes and go dancing once a week, but
now no time :( Kudos to those of you who
love Salsa.

Well thats a quick sinopsis of me, physics
and non physics related.

Hi, I'm Jill.  I'm a second semester junior at Arizona State.  Thank goodness the semester is almost over....

I have no life outside of homework.  But I remember that I liked hiking, football games at the sports bar, reading for fun, sleeping, coffee shops, different movies, seeing  friends, and art galleries.

I'm invovled in molecular electronics research.  I plan on going straight into my doctorate after graduation.  I'd like to study energy physics and work in the application of energy solutions in the developing countries.

I think this chat thing is neat idea and I'm curious as to how well it will do...

My name is Mike and I'm a member of Arizona State's SPS Chapter. Im another one of those strange Astro/Physics peoples, and I should have a BS in a couple months from now. My hobbies include various video games, 3am frisbee golf, breaking things and photoediting/analysis.

I have to say Zone 16 is great, I dare say it makes the states its located in bearable. Also, a little advertisment, the Fall 05 zone meeting will be here at ASU, and although I'm not an officer this year, I'm sure it will be a good meeting regardless. ;-)
