As some of you know, the SPS chapter at The University of Texas at Dallas gained some notoriety last year for publishing a study of a phenomenon known as the Marfa Lights. Marfa is a town in west Texas that has had strange lights reported since 1883. The June issue of the magazine Texas monthly has an article on the Marfa Lights in which the UTD SPS chapter is again mentioned. Congratulations! As of right now, the Wikipedia article on the Marfa Lights (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marfa_lights) includes a significant section on the SPS investigation, as well as a link to the report. Having it linked from such a high-visibility place should lead curious viewers to it and thereby help encourage the scientific interpretation of phenomena. |
