So I've just realized that our time here is almost half-way over!  I'm familiar with the city and enjoy exploring on the weekends.  I stay very busy at AIP and things don't look like they will be slowing down any time soon...which is a good thing.  Last week I participated in my first outreach for elementary schoolers at Tuckahoe Elementary in Virginia.  T'was god experience but unlike my visits to high schools.  Tomorrow I leave with Liz for the CUP meeting in Indiana.  More on that at a later time.  

I had my first scary/crazy/unforgettable incident last night attempting to make it home on the metro.  Let's just say that it involved heels, torrents of water, a suspicious fellow who kept asking for my number, and finally (thank goodness!) a cab ride to the dorm.  I think I owe Alex...big time.  What a rush.  I was so glad to curl up in my dry bed last night.  Hopefully tonight will not be as adventurous.

There are a lot of things that I look forward to doing his summer.  Working with the SPS SOCK and with ComPADRE will be a great experience.  I consider this to be a great opportunity to see how the three aspects of physics, policy, outreach, and research, work together.  Everyone around the office has been helpful and encouraging.  I look forward to what lies ahead.

I have been given my outline for the summer.  My first days have been busy, filled with meetings and brainstorming.  There is a lot that can be done with ComPADRE but I think I am going to pick out a few things that I would like to focus on.  Jacki and I are also working together to discuss how to begin putting together the SOCK.
