NASA EAP Program to Receive Funding Creating More Opportunities to Intern/Work on NASA Projects
- May 30, 2009 at 2:14PM
With the goal of increasing the number of students interested in science, technology and engineering degrees, the Universities Space Research Administration (USRA) has secured $10 million from NASA to improve and enlarge the NASA Education Associates Program (EAP).
The NASA EAP was created in response to a shortfall of United States students enrolled in and graduating from science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programs and to augment NASA's worforce by providing internships to students and faculty engaged in STEM educational pursuits. The NASA Education Associates Program (EAP) offers students, post-docs and faculty the opportunity to work with scientists and engineers on NASA projects. The NASA EAP provides hands-on experience for participants in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and other academic disciplines.
This new alliance is anticipated to increase the number of students enrolled in science, technology, engineering, and math programs and give them opportunities that could lead to future NASA jobs.
