Our College has always taken an active role in improving the pre-service training of K-12 physics/science teachers. We work closely with our College of Education in developing courses and programs for future and current teachers.  We have course offerings in all disciplines specifically designed for education majors.  Within the college, we have an undergraduate secondary teacher education programs to prepare teachers in biology, chemistry and mathematics, and an MAT in biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics.  We are currently exploring the possibility of developing an undergraduate program for physics.   We understand the critical need for qualified science teachers at the local and the national level.   We encourage our faculty to promote the teaching career path to our students.

We also have a tradition of promoting and encouraging teacher innovation and the scholarship of teaching.  Our faculty are encouraged to use hands-on and technology-based solutions to help improve student learning.  Our university encourages the development and use of assurances of learning measures to evaluate the effectiveness of their teaching.  Our most prestigious college award is for "teaching excellence."
