With an average enrollment of 25 physics majors over the past three years the physics department has graduated an average of eight physics majors annually in the past three years. The physics department currently has 30 declared physics majors (all our students are minority students), making it the second largest undergraduate physics program in the state of Alabama and the top physics program among HBCU’s. Currently, five of our declared physics majors have expressed interest in becoming physics teachers. The physics department is working with the school of Education to establish a clear teacher certification track for the above mentioned students. The highest degree currently awarded in the physics department is the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree.
