We currently graduate a very limited number of physics teachers from our undergraduate program.  Over the last three years we have had 13 teachers come out of our program with only one coming from our undergraduate ranks.  The other 12 came out of our alternative certification graduate program.  Our goal over the next 3 years is to increase the number of teachers to 2-3/year from the undergraduate program.  

To accomplish this goal we are increasing the use of undergraduate as TA in introductory courses well as creating a training program for those TAs.  Along with that we are creating a improved pedagogical course that focuses on teaching physics as well as improving our recruitment of students with an interest in science from other majors.
