Prof. David M. Tanenbaum
While we have had a long history of offering a path through the major for future physics teachers, it has had a very low profile in the past. We have alumni who have done Teach for America, and we have had a few others pursue teaching credential programs. We are now working with the Claremont Graduate University to develop a new revitalized program to help our students discover their options to become certified teachers and prepare those who choose this path. We want to create a more direct linkage between undergraduate physics majors and the graduate education program, as well as enhancing the support for physics education specifically within the graduate education program. We hope the relationship with PhysTEC will help guide us in this process.
