| Description: | I would like to share a professional development opportunity. Twice while I was teaching high school I attended the daVinci project at the UConn's School of Engineering. It is a program that offers engineering workshops to middle and high school science and math teachers. Teachers choose from a list of hands-on workshops (fuel cells, electron microscopes, biomaterials, mathematical optimization, etc.). I am now in my seventh year as the director of this program. Based on feedback by participating teachers and my own experience, this program does a wonderful job of introducing science and math teachers to engineering through a variety of hands-on workshops, seminars, lab and facility tours. |
