| Description: | These workshops are full, as of May 15. For Tennessee teachers. Out-of-state teachers can attend at own expense if space is available. Peer leaders: Larry Dukerich of Arizona State University, Bonnie Principe (2nd semester 10th grade chemistry) Dr. Anita Schuchardt of Shady Side Academy, Amy Phelps (11th grade biology) Note: A third Modeling Workshop at Clarksville High School, in mechanics for 9th grade, is July 5-15, 2011, with Rex and Debbie Rice of Clayton High School in Missouri as peer leaders. No prerequisite Modeling Workshop is needed for the mechanics workshop. Peer leaders teach in schools that have the inverted sequence (pcb). | Benefit Explanation: | Middle Tennessee State University, the sponsor, is funded by an ESEA Title IIA higher education "Improving Teacher Quality" grant. Cost for out-of-state teachers is under $300 (barely covers materials and meals). Housing information is available. |
| Other Prerequisites: | It is preferred, but not essential, that participants teach in schools that use the inverted sequence (pcb) or that plan to implement that sequence. Two semesters of college courses in the respective content. Prerequisite for the 2nd semester chemistry workshop: a workshop in 1st semester modeling chemistry. |
