| Description: | The Rockefeller University's Science Outreach Program is designed to provide outstanding, highly-motivated K-12 teachers an opportunity to experience mentored laboratory research. Teachers are chosen from an applicant pool of public, independent, charter, and parochial school teachers in Greater New York City and across the nation, and matched with scientists who will act as their mentors during seven weeks this summer in ongoing research project(s). Teachers are also welcome to return for a second year if they choose to. If accepted, you will join a diverse group of science teachers who, while doing research, work with each other, scientists, and educators to translate their research experience into active learning for their students. The Program provides a course in science communication that terminates in a poster presentation. Teachers also attend seminars given by Rockefeller faculty. The seven-week program starts June 27th and ends August 12th. |
