| Description: | The DOE Academies Creating Teacher Scientists (ACTS) program at Jefferson Lab is a four-week summer program for teachers of grades 5 through 8 designed to build teachers' skills in the physical sciences. The 2009 program (July 6th - July 31st) will include the following components: a course in basic chemistry (50 hours), lectures on current research (20 hours), exploration and creation of physical science classroom activities (40 hours), and completion of a team-based research project under the guidance of Lab staff (50 hours). |
