We held a workshop on campus June 9-11. Eight teachers attended the workshop, which had the theme, "Frontiers in Physics." We covered a range of topics, starting with quantum weirdness and including microscopy, particle physics and cosmology. We learned a lot about video resources on the web for introducing advanced topics to high school students. We had several speakers and a lab tour. Participants gave presentations on their favorite physics frontier topics on the final day of the workshop. KU QuarkNet veteran Mark Wentz helped prepare the workshop program, watching countless hours of physics videos on the web in the process. KU's Engineering School sponsored lunch one day and there was a discussion of pre-engineering preparation and careers. KU's Department of Physics and Astronomy sponsored lunch another day and there was a discussion of preparation for careers in the physical sciences. Other faculty involved were Dave Besson, Danny Marfatia, Hume Feldman (speakers) and Judy Wu (tour guide).
