The Physics Olympiad Screening Exam is used each year to help select members for the United State Physics Team.  The Preliminary Screening Exam consists of thirty multiple choice questions and four creative response questions. The Multiple Choice Exam has a time limit of forty minutes and the Open Response Exam has a time limit of 60 minutes. The two hundred students with the highest score on the Preliminary Screening Exam are invited to take the Semi-Final Exam.  The Semi-Final Exam consists of six problems and has a time limit of 180 minutes.

A CD with the Physics Olympiad Screening exams with solutions from the years 1997-2006 is available from American Association of Physics Teachers and the AAPT Store.
