written by
Wolfgang Christian and
Francisco Esquembre
The Ikeda Delay Differential Equation model shows the dynamics of a delay differential equation that depends on the value of the dynamical variable x(t) at a previous time x(t-τ). Sprott shows that these systems provide elegant examples of chaos in systems that are too simple to exhibit chaos without the time delay. This model demonstrates how EJS provides a natural syntax for implementing these models.
The Ikeda Delay Differential Equation Model was developed using the Easy Java Simulations (EJS) modeling tool version 4.3.3. It is distributed as a ready-to-run (compiled) Java archive. Double clicking the ejs_chaos_IkedaDDE.jar file will run the program if Java is installed. Please note that this resource requires at least version 1.5 of Java.
