This compilation of papers, hand-outs, and resources is from a 2007 national conference on evidence-based best practice for teaching introductory astronomy. The 265-page volume contains includes 73 contributions by over a hundred experienced instructors, divided into the following categories:
1. Astronomy Education Research 2. Teaching Techniques 3. Laboratory Exercises, Demonstrations, and Observing Activities 4. On-line Teaching and Telescopes 5. Interdisciplinary Approaches 6. Debunking Pseudo-science 7. Resources for Teaching and Learning 8. Other Educational Topics. Instructional tools, lab exercises, classroom activities, demonstrations, online teaching resources, pedagogical articles, and ideas for building an interdisciplinary curriculum are included. The resource packet is designed for university, college, and high-school faculty who teach an astronomy course for beginning students with little background in physics or advanced mathematics.
