STP Chemical Demon Program
written by Harvey Gould, Jan Tobochnik, Wolfgang Christian, and Anne Cox
The STP ChemicalDemon program displays a histogram of the energy of a demon that exchanges energy and particles with a one-dimensional lattice of particles. The purpose of this simulation is to understand how the demon acts as an ideal thermometer and ideal measurement of the chemical potential. The default system is a lattice of length L = 100 with N = 100 particles, an energy E = 200 and non interacting particles.

STP ChemicalDemon is part of a suite of Open Source Physics programs that model aspects of Statistical and Thermal Physics (STP). The program is distributed as a ready-to-run (compiled) Java archive. Double-clicking the stp_ChemicalDemon.jar file will run the program if Java is installed on your computer. Additional programs can be found by searching ComPADRE for Open Source Physics, STP, or Statistical and Thermal Physics.

Please note that this resource requires at least version 1.5 of Java.
