This interactive homework problem shows some particles passing through a single slit of known width. After the particles pass through the slit they spread out over a range of angles. The user is asked to use the Heisenberg uncertainty principle to determine the minimum range of angles.  The problem is accompanied by a Socratic-dialog "help" sequence designed to encourage critical thinking as users do a guided conceptual analysis before attempting the mathematics.  Immediate feedback is provided for both correct and incorrect responses.
