Teaching About Energy: Energy from Chemical Fuels

This student activity is designed to explore the energy that can be provided by burning fuels. The heat provided from paraffin or diethylene glycol is measured using the temperature change of water. The concept of the specific heat of water is used to determine the results. Included are notes for instructors wishing to use this material.

This activity is part of a PTRA manual on Energy.
