The purpose of this applet is to add up to 4 different kinds of stars to reproduce the spectrum of a galaxy. The addition of different spectral types is normalized by V-band luminosity. Just selecting an A star and a K red giant can reproduce many of the large scale features of a typical galaxy spectrum. The composite spectrum can then be written out and analyzed in the equivalent width applet to measure how strong the liens are in comparison to real galaxy spectra. This is a relatively advanced applet.
