This website provides access to tutorials designed to support students in learning to produce well-written and professionally-styled laboratory reports. There are two sets of tutorials available -- software tutorials and writing tutorials.

The software tutorials can be used to introduce students to typesetting in LaTeX (with BibTeX), creating diagrams in Inkscape, and graphing in Matlab. The Inkscape and Matlab tutorials tie back into typesetting in LaTeX with exercises that describe how to include figures in a LaTeX document and with an emphasis on editing diagrams and plots for the best visual appearance in a two-column report format.

The writing tutorials provide explicit guidelines for the content and style of lab report introductions, conclusions, and abstracts. Examples of student work of varying quality are also provided for discussion and student evaluation.
