Micrometer
« on: August 11, 2007, 12:49:48 am »
Registed user can get files related to this applet for offline access.
Problem viewing java?Add http://www.phy.ntnu.edu.tw/ to exception site list
If java program did not show up, please download and install latest Java RUN TIME

Due to requested from user at vernier applet web page.
I created this applet for micrometer. (You are welcomed to check out Micrometer with zero error options)

The following flash file shows you how to use it.

Any suggestion to improve this applet will be highly appreciated!

nice idea there.

some suggestions

1. hot zone at the thimble for user to move the micrometer for interactivity

2. the scale is not marked at the 0.00 mm, 10.00 mm, 20.00 mm for the top main scale

3. the sample applet found here has nice design for ease of understanding how to read the main scale with the rotating scale, with numbers to hint the learner.

4. if i see correctly, the readings have a systematic error of +3.00 mm

5. when mouse over, it shows the function of the parts. can refer to this site for the texts.  http://www.pastaffing.com/trainmic.asp . I can help you do this simple stuff :)

ah, still no html tags ;D

http://66.7.205.91/~lookangc/forum/index.php?topic=28.msg34#msg34 has html codes enabled !
it looks cool to applets in forum, the community can help you to populate EJS applets

by the way,

will it be appropriate to create a new heading called measurements ?

micrometer and vernier are physics topics under measurements. ;D

another good applet with a ball to put inside for contextual learning and reveals answer and input your answer for applet to check for correct reading

Thank you for so many good suggestions and related resources.
If I have found those resources, I would not have created the above applet.
I created that one, because someone saw my vernier applet and want to find applet for micrometer.
Because I did not found similar applets so I created this one with EJS.
I should not have display the values for x2,x3. There are not related to the reading. It is used for change the distance (and those value are for internal program used).

Anyway, I have already modified the code according to your suggestions. I hope you will like the new design.
Suggestions are welcomed!

i had to find the 4 missing pictures on the server
such as http://www.phy.ntnu.edu.tw/ntnujava/ejs/_data/endpart.gif

in the end i managed to recompile the file
attached!
it is also mirrored here
http://iwant2study.org/lookangejss/01_measurement/ejs/

the micrometer JavaScript version is here
http://iwant2study.org/ospsg/index.php/interactive-resources/physics/01-measurements/6-micrometer

enjoy!
