Physlet® Physics Heat and Temperature Illustrations JS Package

written by Anne Cox, Wolfgang Christian, and Mario Belloni

The Physlet® Physics Heat and Temperature Illustrations Package contains JavaScript adaptations of Illustrations from Physlet Physics Chapter 19.  In this package we study of the relationship between heat, work and internal energy, described macroscopically by temperature, is the focus of thermodynamics. Heat is the energy transferred due to the temperature difference between objects and/or the energy transferred when work is done to change the internal energy of an object.

Students need to interact with the Physlet®, but the answers to the questions posed in the Illustrations are given or are easily determined from interacting with it. Some Illustrations provide examples of physics applications while others are designed to introduce a particular kinematics concept. Typical uses of Illustrations would include reading assignments prior to class and classroom demonstrations.

The Physlet® Physics Heat and Temperature Illustrations Package was developed using the Easy Java/JavaScript Simulations (EJS) version 5.  Although EJS is a Java program, it can create stand-alone JavaScript programs that run in almost any PC or tablet.

Physlet® Physics Heat and Temperature Illustrations are available in an online AAPT/ComPADRE book.
