We have a strong BS physics program but do not have a sterling pass rate on the PRAXIS II. This is a concern to us since approximately 50% of our majors plan to become secondary education physics teachers.
The number of majors graduating with a degree in secondary education physics is small and highly variable from year-to-year. However, we plan to recruit more heavily in this area since it remains a very marketable skill. (Our graduates are very successful in landing jobs). PTEC would keep us informed of initiatives and best practices in physics teaching.
