Abstract Title: The Pre-Health iCollaborative Project: How can AAPT and PER help?
Abstract: AAMC (Association of American Medical Colleges) has recently redefined its understanding of the expectations of students pursuing medical degrees.  This has resulted in a revision of the MCAT and a vision of a recommended undergraduate curriculum based on pre-health competencies.  Pre-Health iCollaborative is a new project established by the AAMC to provide a free online, searchable collection of instructional resources to support undergraduate faculty of all science disciplines who work with students preparing for medical school.  Teaching resources, effective practices, and strategies for including pre-health competencies into existing courses will be made available to faculty at all institutions.  (Sample materials can be found at www.aamc.org/icollaborative/pre-health.)  In this paper, we will describe the status of the project, with a focus on how the PER (Physics Education Research) community can contribute to the success of this project.
