| Abstract Title: | Transfer of Learning in the Context of an Inquiry-Based General Physics Laboratory |
|---|---|
| Abstract: | This research investigated how several inquiry-based introductory physics laboratory activities facilitate students' knowledge construction and how they affect students' ability to apply physics principles in explaining real-life situations. In this paper, we will document the associations that students make as they go through hands-on activities designed to guide them to discover physics principles and relationships among physical quantities. Our results showed that most students do not readily transfer the target content knowledge learned through discovery-based laboratory activities into a transfer context (e.g. real-life situations). |
