The paper "A Simple Demonstration for the Static Ladder Problem" describes a simple demonstration for the static ladder problem.  In addition to the description of the demonstration, the paper refers to the TPT Ladder Demonstration Model created with Easy Java Simulations which shows both the statics and dynamics of the ladder problem.
