The Quarter Wave Plate program displays the effect of a quarter wave plate on an incident electromagnetic wave.   The default electromagnetic wave is plane polarized but this polarization can be changed by specifying the components of the wave's Jones vector using the input fields.  TheA slider can be used to rotate the quarter wave plate.    

Quarter Wave Plate is an Open Source Physics program written for the teaching of optics.

Please note that this resource requires at least version 1.5 of Java.

It's a great program! With this helpful program, I finally understand the QWP.

When I realized that the input wave can change format to circular polarization or ellipse polarization, I loved it even more.
