This is an interactive homework problem for introductory physics students relating to torque due to frictional force. A 1050 kg sign is attached to a rod perpendicular to a rough wall. A guy wire is affixed to the end of the rod and to the wall, bearing the load of the sign. Students must determine the smallest value of coefficient of friction possible for the sign to stay in place. A user-activated "help" sequence is provided for each step of the problem-solving, from conceptual analysis through quantitative calculation. Immediate feedback is received for both correct and incorrect responses.
