Geo-Electric Cover

This multimedia collection supports teaching about electric field and electric potential, concepts frequently misunderstood by students, even after completing course work in Electricity and Magnetism. Research indicates that viewing atomic-molecular visualizations and modeling electric field and potential lines are essential to building correct ideas. The keystone element of this collection is our AAPT lesson in which students use a topographic map to create a physical clay model to represent equipotential surfaces. In addition, the Digi Kit features computational models, electric field simulations, a demonstration of electric field using potassium permanganate crystals, and a lab that introduces conductive paper for mapping both field lines and equipotential.
