A New Combined Physics and Astrophysics Lab Course for Seniors |
| Abstract: |
We will discuss a new senior level undergraduate lab course that is under development at Franklin and Marshall College. This course combines labs in both observational astronomy and experimental physics, with the combined set of labs being performed by both astrophysics and physics majors. The course is taught by a team of one astronomer and one experimental physicist who participate in all labs. One goal of the lab is to expose each set of majors to laboratory work and research techniques that they may not have previously encountered in their respective major courses. Student response was very positive to this new lab course, and we continue to modify and improve it. |
