| Description: | The Summer Program for Interdisciplinary Reserach and Education - Emerging Interface Technologies (SPIRE-EIT) is a ten-week undergraduate internship funded by the National Science Foundation's Research Experience for Undergraduate program. Interns in this program will live on campus for ten weeks with undergraduates from across the country and from a variety of disciplies. Interns will work collaborative in interdisciplinary research teams, receive core training and gain hands-on research experience with emerging interface technologies. They will participate in classes about Human Computer Interaction (HCI), attend seminars led by HCI faculty, and participate in a Research Symposium at the end of the summer, where they will give a poster presentation and a technical demonstration of their research project. They will also be given the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities throughout the summer. |

| Additional Information: | To be eligible, students must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States, be working towards an undergraduate degree in one of the HCI disciplines or a related discipline, have a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4 point scale, and not be otherwise employed while affiliated with the program.
