the Physics Education Technology Project
This is an inquiry-based module created specifically for use with the PhET simulation Geometric Optics. It includes a lesson plan for teaching about convex lenses, step-by-step student directions, and a set of Power Point "clicker" questions for use as warm-up questions or informal assessment. The resource was developed to augment a hands-on classroom lab on convex lenses.
SEE RELATED ITEMS on this page for a link to the accompanying simulation.
This resource is part of a larger collection of interactive Java simulations for students of physics, developed by the Physics Education Technology project at the University of Colorado.

This is an award-winning module created specifically for use with the PhET simulation Geometric Optics. It includes a lesson plan with step-by-step printable student directions, background information on convergent lenses, and a full set of Power Point clicker questions (with answers) for formative assessment. We suggest using it after students have explored concave/convex lenses in a hands-on lab (see Practical Physics Optics Labs above).
