The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor Department of Physics has taken a number of steps over the last decade to participate in the recruitment, training, and success of future physics teachers. The recent introduction of two new teacher education programs at the University of Michigan provide an opportunity to raise our efforts in this area to the next level, formalizing the preparation of teachers as an established program, developing a series of new opportunities for support, and connecting what we do more solidly with the larger community of teacher education that includes the School of Education and the IDEA institute.
