We currently offer a physics B.A. degree and a physics minor that leads to an endorsement to teach physics assuming that teacher candidates fulfill other criteria such as completing the teacher certification program, passing the state teacher content test, etc. One faculty member (Palmquist) has a joint appointment in the science education department. We have an active physics (SPS) and astronomy clubs that provide students with community teaching opportunities. Majors and minors interested in teaching can TA a physics course for credit. Starting spring 2013, we will be offering a learning assistant course.

Planned efforts: We would like to make the TA experience more of a mentoring/recruiting experience to get students interested in teaching as a profession. We are also going to develop a joint-certification math-physics teaching program.
