The Radford University Department of Chemistry and Physics is committed to improving pre-service and in-service teacher education. We already have several aspects of our program that support this effort.  Every semester we offer an activity-based course in physical science specifically designed for pre-service teachers.  We also have a long tradition of faculty members in our Department providing instruction in off-campus science education courses throughout southwestern Virginia.

We strive to remain current in physics education research, and seek to teach our courses in a manner that is most conducive to student learning.  Many of our upper-level students obtain teaching experience through tutoring or assisting in laboratory sections, and a significant number of our graduates pursue careers in secondary-school teaching.
