This is a lesson plan for beginning  high school physics and/or physical science.  It includes a lecture demonstration with a charged ballon, plus  three activities designed to enhance student understanding of electric charge, electron transfer, and polarization.  Estimated set-up time is about 15 minutes.  Conceptual questions are posed and answered by the authors.  Included are printable student data sheets and comprehensive background information on static electricity.

This lesson is part of a larger collection generated by the University of Virginia Department of Physics outreach program.
