The Open Source Physics website will be unavailable Friday evening through Saturday afternoon as electrical work occurs in the American Center of Physics server room. Down time will begin at 6PM Eastern Time on Friday. Service is expected to resume by 6PM on Saturday, July 30.
The Javelin Dynamics Model simulates the throw of a javelin in a vertical plane. The user can change the initial velocity, angle of the javelin (theta), angle of the velocity vector (phi), angle of attack (phi), and angular velocity (omega).
The Javelin Dynamics Model was developed as a final project in a sophomore-level Computational Physics course (Phy 200) using the Easy Java Simulations (EJS) modeling tool. It is distributed as a ready-to-run (compiled) Java archive. Double clicking the jar file will run the program if Java is installed. You can modify this simulation if you have EJS installed by right-clicking within the map and selecting "Open Ejs Model" from the pop-up menu item.

Javelin Range Model
The Javelin Range Model supplements the main model that simulates the motion of a javelin. This model uses the same equations of motion and uses them to quickly compute the range of a javelin throw and store the values as a function of intial theta and phi. download 1162kb .jar
